As per recent data released by Taiwan customs it is observed that the nation has imported about 230,000 MT Billet in July 2017.
The imports have registered an increase of 53.33% M-o-M in July’17 against 150,000 MT in June’17. During July’17, Japan has exported approximately 60% billet (140,000 MT) to the nation.
While the export (Japan to Taiwan) in June’17 remains at 130,000 MT. While, on Y-o-Y in July 2017 imports registered a downfall of 36.11% against 0.36 MnT in July 2016.
Coming to total imports in CY17 (Jan—Jul17), the nation has imported about 1.89 MnT Billet; down by 5.02% as compared to 1.99 MnT in the same preceding last year.
Prior to this, in CY16 (Jan-Dec) the country’s billet import was around 3.28 MnT & in CY15 at 2.90 MnT.
Country wise:
During July 2017, imports is surge almost halves against June’17, & in July’1 7 Japan’s total billet exports was around 300,000 MT & about 50% of total billet quantity exports in Taiwan. In line United Arab Emirates & Russia exports around 50,000 MT & 30,000 MT to the nation.
In CY17 (Jan-Jul) – Japan, Russia, United Arab Emirates, Iran & China was the major billet exporter to Taiwan which exported about 0.89 MnT (47.21%), 0.50 MnT (26.48%), 0.27 MnT (14.04%), 0.16 MnT (8.24%) & 0.07 MnT (3.95%), respectively.
Key updates
1. The export offers of 150*150 IS 2830 grade billet are currently at USD 520/MT FoB India & 150*150 0235 are at USD 540/MT FoB China.
2. In the week it was also noted from the billet mill owners that due to weak demand from local rebar manufacturers few exports done at USD 520/MT FoB Taiwan.
3. Taiwan’s prices for imports of containerized HMS-grade ferrous scrap have down by USD 5/MT W-o-W, the price assessment for USA based HMS 1&2 (80:20) are at USD 285— 295/MT CFR Taiwan.
