Brazil, the world’s second-largest Semi finished exporter, has exported about 890,000 MT Billets in October 2017 which was the highest volume in CY17, recent released data by Brazilian customs reported.
In the month of October’17, the exports have increased sharply by 67.92% M-o-M against 530,000 MT in Sep’17 & 85.42% Y-o-Y against 480,000 MT in Oct’16.
Coming to total exports in CY2017 (Jan-Oct), the data shows about 6.30 MnT billet exports, surged by 24.50% against 5.06 MnT in the same preceding CY2016.
Further, on yearly calculation the billet exports were reported around 6.25 MnT in CY2016 & at 6.90MnT in CY2015.
With the increase of steel demand globally, the crude steel production of country was marked at 30.21 MnT in 2016. Meanwhile, in 2017 (Jan’17-Sep’17) the figure of crude steel production stood at 25.50 MnT
Country wise:
During October 2017, United States has imported approximately 29% (0.26 MnT) billets from Brazil. Inline the other largest importer of Brazilian originated billet was Turkey (0.21 MnT) & Germany (0.09 MnT).
In the month, the major export of Billets were from the ports of Vitoria (0.42 MnT), Rio De Janeiro (0.23 MnT) &Pecem (0.21). While approximately 42% of exports were done from the port of Vitoria till October 2017.
In the total billet exports during CY 2017 (Jan-Oct), the most favorable export destination of Brazilian billet was – United States (2.14 MnT), Mexico (0.56 MnT), Turkey (0.53 MnT), Germany (0.47 MnT) & Argentina (0.43 MnT).
