Iran: Bulk lron Ore Shipments up 21% in Sept’17

Iran bulk iron ore export shipments in Sept’17 were up 21% to 1.92 MnT according to the data maintained by SteelMint based on vessel line ups. It stood at 1.59 MnT in Aug’17.

China remained the only export destination for the month of Sept’17 with 1.92 MnT up 25% M-o-M against 1.54 in Aug’17. However Iran export also up 81% Y-o-Y in Sept’17 against 1.06 MnT in Sept’16. No iron ore exported to UAE and Malaysia in Sept’17.

China demand for higher iron ore (pellets and lump) is on the rise, as a result of pollution control measures. Iran has listed in the top 15 mineral and metals rich countries. It has about 37 billion tonnes of proven reserves and more than 57 billion tonnes of potential reserves. An analysis is that the Iran not only have large underground resources like hydrocarbon, mineral or metal but it is in the top list of the global production numbers of several of it.
