Turkey: Iron Ore Imports Up 22% in July’17

The tenth largest importer of Iron ore, Turkey’s imports have seen an increase of 22% M-o-M to 0.93 MnT iron ore as it was 0.76 MnT in Jun’17. Turkey iron ore imports were however down Y-o-Y by 2% as it was at 0.95 MnT in Jul’16.

In the first seven month of 2017 Turkey imported 6.56 MnT Iron ore, up 4 % against 6.29 MnT compare to same period last year 2016.

The Non-agglomerated ore (Lumps and Fines) was imported 0.67 MnT up more than 3 times M-o-M compare to 0.2 MnT in Jun’17 and also was up 3% Y-o—Y against Jul’16 which at 0.65 MnT. In the first seven month of 2017 Non- agglomerated ore (Lumps and Fines) were imported at 3.44 MnT up 2% compare to the same period last year which was at 3.36 MnT then.

Agglomerated ore (pellets and concentrates) were imported 0.26 MnT down 54% M-o-M against June’17 at 0.56 Mnt. It was down 10% Y-o-Y as well compared to same month last year which was at 0.29 MnT then.

There was an improvement of 6% in imports of for agglomerated ore (pellets and concentrates) in the first seven months of 2017 at 3.11 MnT compare to same period last year 2016 which were at 2.93 MnT then.

Country’s iron ore imports were majorly from Brazil 0.61 MnT, Sweden 0.16 MnT & Ukraine 0.12 MnT and Russia 0.04 MnT.
