Brazil Iron Ore Export Up Marginally in Aug’ 17

Recent trade statistics released by Brzil Customs show that the country has exported around 32.1 MnT iron ore in Aug’17.

Brazil iron ore exports were up by 1% M-o-M against 31.8 MnT in July’ 17.

However the exports were down by 7% Y-o-Y for the month of Aug which were at 34.5 MnT in Aug’16 as per the SteelMint Research.

Monthly average iron ore export price up by 4%.

The average export price for Brazilian iron ore was up in Aug’16 and was around USD 39.1/MT, FoB Brazil, up by USD 1.5/MT from Jul’17 as it was USD 37.6/MT, FoB Brazil.

However Y-o-Y, average export prices rose by USD 2.7/MT against USD 36.4/MT, FOB Brazil in Aug’ 16.

Vale accounted for 85% share in Brazilian iron ore exports in Aug’17.

According to data provided by lachcape Shipping Services, Brazil, – the country exported 34.13 MnT iron ore via sea route.

Vale, the world’s largest iron ore producer exported around 85% of iron ore via sea route of the total exports.

In Aug17, the miner exported 27.2 MnT iron ore via sea route, CSN – 3.4 MnT, Anglo American – 1.3 MnT and Trafiguara – 0.2 MnT.
