Indian Induction Furnaces Book Billet Export Orders as Large Mills Run Out of Allocation

Thursday 31 August 2017

Indian bulk exports of billets & re-bar have increased in last few months owing to rising global prices and absence of Chinese material in world seaborne market.

Although there are not many offers from large steel makers like JSW, SAIL, RINL but it has been heard that mid-sized induction furnaces have sold some decent parcels of billet in the month of August. Current price assessment of 125*125mm billets from India are at around $510-$15/MT FOB India.

However, mill scale exports have taken a back seat after Chinese government indicated a possible ban on imports of several solid wastes, including mill scale. According to sources, Chinese importers are not willing to buy any mill scale cargo till they get clarity from the government.
